A Morning With Tina Negri

Last week, we sat down with Seattle-based jewelry designer, Tina Negri, for some seasonal product knowledge and to learn more about the history and inspiration behind her unique designs. It all started in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, where she learned the art of making things by hand at a very young age, particularly, from her father who was known for his Mexican praline candies. She then went on to attend the University of Texas, where she studied architecture. While there, she took a jewelry making class on the side and fell in love with it forever! After spending some time in the architecture field, she decided to pursue her passion for jewelry professionally and has been at it now for 15 years. Tina credits her inspiration to textures, fashion, nature, cultural influences from around the world– and most appropriately, architectural design. She traveled to Mexico where she learned traditional crafting techniques that she brought into her jewelry making practice back home, which is reflected in the rustic feel and old-world craftsmanship of her work. Ms. Negri has a dear place in the heart of Mario’s as she has focused a lot of her time solely on our store, the Northwest style and most importantly, our customers. From her traditional “wear everyday” pieces, to her innovative statement pieces, she has something for just about everyone!
